Secret Garden 1 is one of the latest paintings from my series Flowers in My Backyard and also the largest work of the series. Through layers and textured structures, the painting evokes the atmosphere of a romantic garden while also recalling the richness of ancient tapestries. It moves between old and contemporary, finished and unfinished.
For me, it is important that a painting continues to inspire the viewer over time. Like in a garden, there are always new corners to discover — sometimes hidden, sometimes unexpectedly familiar. Your eye may rest on one area one day and wander toward another the next.
